Tony Awards 2022 Viewing Guide

It is Broadway’s biggest event of the year, celebrating the best of theater on the Great White Way.

“West Side Story” star and Oscar winner Ariana DeBos is the host of the show, and she spoke to CNN earlier this week about what to expect.

“I think I’m going to do what everyone thinks I’m going to do, which sings dances and tries to act and make it a standout,” she said with a laugh. “And maybe even surprise some people who know it’s live from coast to coast… and that’s what makes it exciting. There’s nothing like live theater.”

DeBoss, a self-described fan of All Things Theater, said she turned to the last Tony Awards show on Sunday to prepare for her role.

“I’ve re-watched countless, countless Tony Award shows and I’m no James Corden, I’m certainly no Neil Patrick Harris or Hugh Jackman for that matter. And I’m no Whoopi Goldberg, but I’m all of them Inspired by,” Debos said. “I’m excited about it because it’s a playground for me. I’ve never done that so I just kind of get used to it and the cool thing is, I love these guys and I love getting it on my face.” It doesn’t matter to fall and look a little stupid for the people I love. So here we go!”
