‘Earlier tonight, Anne passed away due to complications resulting from a stroke. She left us for almost nineteen years until the day my father, her husband Stan, died.

‘The enormity of our family’s grief cannot be overstated. As my mother, her support for me was unconditional—she taught me to embrace my dreams, reject conformity, and challenge the dark voices of fear and self-doubt. As a writer, she taught me to break through the boundaries of genre and surrender to my obsessive passions.

‘In her final hours, I sat by her hospital bed in awe of her achievements and her courage, drowning in memories of a life that took us from the foggy hills of the San Francisco Bay Area to the magical streets of New Orleans . Glittering views of Southern California.

His beloved son said his funeral would be private, a public event to celebrate his life in New Orleans.

“Anne will be buried in a private ceremony in our family’s mausoleum at Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans,” he said.

‘Next year, her life will be celebrated in New Orleans. The event will be open to the public and will invite the participation of his friends, readers and fans who have given him such joy and inspiration throughout his life.

Rice published her first and best-known novel, Interview with a Vampire, in 1976. And the success of the book saw it lead to a 1994 Hollywood film starring Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Kirsten Dunst.

She met her husband Stan in a journalism class when they were both students at Richardon High School in Texas, and the pair married in 1961.

Ms. Rice gave birth to her first child, Michelle, in 1966, but tragedy struck when Michelle was diagnosed with leukemia and died in 1972.

She then gave birth to the couple’s son, Christopher, in 1978, who became a writer after making his debut in 2000 with A Density of Souls.

Ms. Rice went into a coma in 1998 at the age of 57 due to a diagnosis of diabetes. And in 2003, after the death of her husband, she underwent gastric bypass surgery and lost 103 pounds.

But he almost died again in 2004 due to an intestinal blockage that occurred during his gastric bypass surgery.
