Pregnant Afghan woman gives birth to baby girl on US evacuation flight with 300 people

One US Army nurse and two others 300 . helped give birth to a baby inside a plane full of Afghanistan evacuation shortly after landing in Germany on Saturday.

Registered nurse and US Army Captain Erin Brymer was called to help 10 minutes before a C-17 transport plane landed at US Rammstein Air Base in Germany.

The plane took off from Al Udeed Air Base in Qatar, part of a US hasty effort to evacuate translators, aides and others who had helped the US during its 20-year occupation against the country. TalibanWho has now occupied the country.

Upon landing, Briemer and two people from the 24/7 Women’s Health team helped deliver the baby on the plane.

He told the military newspaper, ‘We were at the point of no return stars and stripes.

The mother – whose identity is not known – was seated on a shawl near the plane’s door, Brymer said.

‘It looked like the picture in the news,’ she said. ‘It was a plane full of 300 people sitting on the ground.’

Brymer was assisted by Air Force neonatal nurse Major Kristin Blouin and Staff Sgt. Lamar Melvin, an aerospace medical technician.

Brimmer said, “I was just trying to make eye contact with her and let her know that everything is fine, that she can give birth to this baby safely and that we are ready for her.” pregnant women.

‘Many of these women have not eaten and are not well hydrated,’ she said. ‘And it certainly can induce labor.’

Brymer called the delivery ‘picture perfect’, and said it was the best moment ‘When the baby came out screaming and we were able to put it directly on the mother’s chest and breastfeed her immediately.’

The baby was born within 10-15 minutes of the plane taking off at 3.19 pm local time.

US Transportation Command chief General Steve Lyons told reporters on Monday that two other children were born in Ramstein. CNNHowever, he did not give any details.

‘There’s just an incredible, unbelievable operation going on, you know. Just impressive work by our great airmen,’ Lyons said.

A total of 7,100 people have reached the German base from Afghanistan so far.

According to CNN, the base is nearing 7,500 capacity after the landing of 36 evacuation flights in recent days.

Evacuation efforts are ramping up as the Taliban lose patience with US procedures. A spokesman for the group said there would be ‘consequences’ if Biden extended the withdrawal deadline to August 31.

According to the White House, 10,900 people were evacuated from Kabul between 3 and 3 a.m. on Monday. The US has evacuated 48,000 people from Afghanistan since August 14.

Captain Brimmer says he felt ‘honoured’ and ‘humbled’ to help him start a new life amid the crisis.

‘And just sort of – the sheer humanity of this. I mean, we are people, they are people. We both want the same thing, a healthy and strong mother and child.’
