facing a peterborough man impaired driving The charges followed a collision in the city on Saturday evening.
Around 8:15 pm, Peterborough Police Service Officers responded to reports of a failed single vehicle collision in the area of The Queensway Avenue and Erskine Avenue.
Police say officers traced a driver who said his vehicle was struck by a vehicle. A second vehicle was following the suspect’s vehicle.
Officers were then called to a parking lot in the Queensway and The Parkway area, where two vehicles had been significantly damaged.
A driver stated that his vehicle was hit at a stop sign and the vehicle sped away. Police have determined that the driver of the suspect vehicle was under the influence of alcohol.
No one was reported injured in both the collisions.
A 68-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with two counts of impaired driving (alcohol and blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus) and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop after an accident.
He was issued an automatic 90-day driver’s license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
Police said on Tuesday that he was released on production notice and he has to appear in court on January 24.
