A furious mother has been killed after living for months in the shadow of a giant shipping container her neighbor had craned into their small backyard garden in a plow.

The woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said her fence had been haunted by a monstrous after she was toppled just steps from her living room door 18 months ago.

At nearly 19 feet tall, the ‘eye pain’ has left his family unable to open windows as ‘toxic’ fumes from a makeshift chimney into the house, he claims.

The mother, who lives with her two children in the Bransholme area, said she has made six complaints to Hull City Council regarding the container.

The mother-in-law of four says she has made several complaints to the council because the container was dropped 18 months ago in her neighbor’s small backyard garden.

She claims that it is equally of annoyance to many of her neighbors, plus, the temporary fireplace is being used on a daily basis.

The woman said: ‘I should not live like this. When he lights the fireplace, he lights the wooden pallets and my living room is filled with toxic smoke that comes on your chest even when my windows are closed.

‘I have to constantly wash my curtains because they smell of smoke.’

The mother further added that the family also has to keep both their curtains pulled as she cannot bear to look at the container and prevent her neighbor from looking at her terrace.

He continued: ‘He told me he was taking a conservatory, and then he showed up, and I said ‘Well this isn’t a conservatory, is it?

‘He took our fence down to get in and when he put it back, weeks later, he took about a foot and a half extra from my garden.

‘It blocks my light and he’s on top of it forever so I have to keep the curtains closed so he can’t see inside.

The family is forced to close their curtains to prevent smoke from entering the house and to prevent neighbors from seeing when it is over the container.

‘He also puts wood and metal on top, which isn’t on the bottom, and I have kids and animals that use the garden, so it’s not safe.’

‘The council is simply not interested. I don’t know if it’s because I’m from Bransholme and they think it doesn’t matter. I’m sure they won’t let anyone get away with it in Swanland.’

She claimed that the council has been approached several times in a span of 18 months, but the family is still waiting for action against her neighbour. However, Hull City Council says it is trying to help the family.

A spokesperson said: ‘Following a service request from the resident in July 2020, a smoke investigation was carried out and container controls were also planned.

‘Upon confirming the results in October 2020, the council made several attempts to contact the resident, but calls and letters went unanswered.

‘The most recent service request last week Awaiting further information from the resident.

‘While further efforts will be made to obtain the information we require, our ability to respond to requests for service is dependent on a good level of communication from all involved.’
