A Guelph woman thwarted a potential dogmapper.

The Guelph Police Service was notified of the incident at approximately 5:45 p.m. Tuesday

Investigators say a woman was approached by an unknown man while driving on McDonnell Street.

The woman reportedly told police the man banged on her windows while the vehicle was stopped and tried to take her dog.

Investigators say the man managed to get inside the vehicle but the woman was able to rescue him.

He says officers located the man and arrested him.

A 46-year-old Guelph man faces charges of public intoxication, mischief and assault and will appear in Guelph court on March 21.

Investigators say no one was hurt in the incident, including the dog.
