Atlantic City casino workers prepare to strike for higher pay

Nearly 6,000 casino workers in Atlantic City, NJ, were set to strike Thursday over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, as a local union and casino operators continued to negotiate new contracts.

Unite Here Local 54 organizers call for a pay increase, saying wages have come down in recent years, and workers are now eligible for the pay increases that casinos have returned from the pandemic, Workers in five of the city’s nine casinos voted to authorize The union’s negotiating committee will call for a strike from Friday without any agreement.
