DC EMS and Fire Chief John Donnelly told DailyMail.com that eight people, including the woman, were hospitalized, with at least five people with life-threatening injuries.

Donnelly said three others were treated for minor injuries at the scene and decided not to go to the hospital.

According to fire officials, fortunately no one was trapped under the car.

Duncan Bedlian, the commander of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second Police District, told DailyMail.com that there was a “large amount” of patrons taking advantage of the outdoor dining at the time.
