A woman has died and ten more have been hospitalized after a vehicle crashed into the outdoor dining area of a restaurant in Washington DC Friday.
According to officials, around 12:18 p.m. an elderly man lost control of his gray SUV and drove off the road to the patio area of the Parthenon restaurant and Chevy Chase lounge. Connecticut Avenue NW in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of the nation’s capital.
A spokesperson for DC EMS & Fire told DailyMail.com at around 2:30 p.m. that an adult woman had died from her injuries.

DC EMS and Fire Chief John Donnelly told DailyMail.com that eight people, including the woman, were hospitalized, with at least five people with life-threatening injuries.
Donnelly said three others were treated for minor injuries at the scene and decided not to go to the hospital.
According to fire officials, fortunately no one was trapped under the car.
Duncan Bedlian, the commander of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second Police District, told DailyMail.com that there was a “large amount” of patrons taking advantage of the outdoor dining at the time.
Both police and fire officials said the elderly man, who is yet to be identified, stayed at the scene to help. They believe that the incident was an accident.
There was some speculation that the driver may have suffered medical injuries, but police and fire officials told DailyMail.com that he was not harmed.
There was no structural damage to the restaurant from the accident.
Several roads in the area have been closed due to the incident.
