Sophie Grégoire Trudeau is scheduled to speak at a fundraising event next month, according to YW Kitchener-Waterloo.

The organization says Grégoire Trudeau will be part of a fireside chat with broadcaster Lisa LaFlamme on May 23 at the Bingemans Conference Centre.

The former first lady and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced their separation after 18 years of marriage last August.

Launched in 1905, YW KW aims to help area women and girls with services and programs that support physical and mental well-being as well as economic independence.

“YW Kitchener-Waterloo is excited to host Sophie Trudeau for our third annual Rise-Up Breakfast to raise much-needed funds to continue providing life to our organization.[1]Transforming and stabilizing support for some of the most vulnerable women in our community,” said Jennifer Brayton, CEO of YW KW.

LaFlamme, who was the national anchor for CTV News until August 2022, was born and raised in Kitchener.
