Lucky for you, we’ve created an “eternal” cheat sheet so hardy and casual fans alike can keep things straight. Here’s what you need to know about Eternals ahead of the film’s release on November 5. (This writer hasn’t seen the movie yet, but mild spoilers from the comics follow.)
The Eternals are not quite people, not quite gods (though humans often mistake them for gods, troubling the space gods who created them and
Greek god For which some Sanatan names have been given). Although they each have unique powers, they are all skilled warriors with super-strength, speed and agility.
Heroes are mostly immortal – even if their bodies are destroyed, they can survive in other ways. But they keep their powers a secret because they live among humans.
They were sent to Earth by the Celestials, an ancient group of celestial beings, about 7,000 years before the events of the film to protect mankind against the gods, mutant demons also created by the Celestials when some tests on the early Earth-dwellers went awry. Had gone. Eternals are advised not to interfere in non-distracting business, instead acting as mere spectators for human conflict, unless gods and goddesses are involved.
While the Eternals have followed the celestials until now, they are finally starting to question their mission and the beings that created them.
Like most characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who have received their own origin stories, Eternals probably doesn’t like superheroes themselves. But by the end of the movie, after going through various transformations and conquering various enemies, he will probably be among the most powerful heroes in the MCU, and probably the MCM – Marvel Cinematic. multiverse
Meet Marvel’s 10 Eternals
icariso
Played by: Richard Madden
In the comics, Eternal is often led by Icaris, who is usually depicted as a blond-haired, blue-eyed muscular man reminiscent of He-Man but with laser eyes. In some comics productions, he is named Prime Eternal, or the Eternal who rules the rest.
Powers: Laser-beam eyes. You name it, Ikaris can probably do that. He can fly at speeds of up to 850 mph, creating illusions and emitting laser beams from his eyes.

Who knew? In the comics, when he is disguised as a human, he is known as “Ike Harris”. Ikaris is certainly one of the most daring eternals, but creative, he is not.
cersi
Played by: gemma chano
If it’s Icaris who typically drives Eternals into comics territory, then Cersei is the heart of it. He is, as something of a historian of mankind, the first-line seat to events such as the fall of Rome and the French Revolution, per
Miracle. You will often find Cersei in green, perhaps, for her deep love and admiration of the Earth and its inhabitants. He has had a centuries-long, continuous relationship with his companion Eternal, Icaris.
Powers: substance conversion. Basically, she can turn matters into any form she wants (remember in the “Eternal” trailer, when she’s seen smashing a double-decker bus into a parade of petals?).
Who knew? In the comics, Sersi joined the Avengers for a spell. Although she later left the group full time, she still occasionally helps them when they need a hand from a godly hero.
phantom
Played by: Lia McHugh
Sprite is as mischievous as its name suggests. Though she’s just as old as her counterparts, she has an evergreen preteen presence, which she uses to her advantage—a comics run saw her star in her teen sitcom. His naivety can also be devastating, though: in one series, Sprite “altered reality on a cosmic scale,” according to
Miracle. Sprite is also written as a male in the comics, for the most part of the character.
Powers: Confusion. group’s
“Grand Storyteller” The sprite casts live mirages and can teleport itself when needed.
Who knew? He was once, according to Marvel, a thorn in William Shakespeare’s side,
Inspiring the Bard’s character “Puck” In “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.
Phastos
Played by: Brian Tyre Henry
The group’s inventor and sworn pacifist, Fastos, is also the very first gay superhero in the MCU. (While there are many queer characters in Marvel Comics, only a few other characters – including Valkyrie and Loki – have been suggested, though not confirmed.

Powers: invention andtechnopathy“ If Fastos can see something in his mind’s eye, he can make it real – he has the ability to embody weapons and other inventions as little more than an idea.
Who knew? At one point in the comics, he took the codename “Ceasefire”—a nod to his stance against war. (No one tells him that he is a superhero created to wage war against demons!)

Played by: Angelina Jolie
It is no coincidence that Thena is named after the Greek goddess of war – according to
Miracle, Thea is “more comfortable in combat than anywhere else.” Like Fastos, she can wield weapons with her mind, though she enjoys wielding them and unleashing the cosmic, PG-13 carnage.
Powers: superhuman sparring. He is incredibly fast, strong, reflexive – an almost unbeatable warrior.
Who knew? In the comics, she once had a friendship with a distracted leader named Crow, and their turbulent relationship has stymied both Eternal and his enemies.

Played by: Salma Hayek
Although in the comics, Ajak is depicted as a male,
Hayek said She views her character as a maternal figure, a “spiritual leader” who connects with each of them even when they are at odds and keeps the group right.
Powers: wound healer. invitation
heal Both human and eternal, and he is one of the few to have direct contact with the celestial beings to receive updates on his mission.
Who knew? In the comics, Ajak is a “prolific archaeologist and skilled wrestler”.
Miracle it is said. Even godly heroes need hobbies.
makarik
Played by: Lauren Ridloff
Speed runner Makri has dashed around the planet and, clearly, is bored with what he’s found. In the film, the Eternals ask him to overcome his boredom for a few days to help him defeat the gods and save the world so that he can cross other planets.
Powers: Super speed. Quicksilver Who? Makkari is “the fastest woman in the universe”

Who knew? Ridloff is deaf — and Makri is the first deaf superhero in the MCU — so
Eternals communicate with Capricorn through sign language.
kingo
Played by: kumail nanjiani
While many other Eternals elected to live anonymously amongst mankind, Kingo became a movie star (in the comics, he is known for being an actor
japanese samurai movies; In the film, he is a Bollywood artist).
Powers:
Fighting in style. Kingo can do what basically every Eternal can – kick butt with little effort, though he prefers to drive away enemies with the panache of a leading man. he has
Ego Of one too.
Who knew? Kingo apparently makes himself the star of Eternals. Thena and Ikaris want a word.
Gilgamesh
Played by: don lee
The strongest Eternal and Thena’s companion, Gilgamesh is a fearsome warrior but also a very good boy, according to
Miracle.
Powers: Incredible power. In battle, Gilgamesh wields a golden “exoskeleton” that protects his arms and fists and delivers devastating blows to enemies.
Who knew? In the comics, he was
known As “forgotten” because he did not know that he was an eternal for many years.
druigo
Played by: Barry Keoghan
There is a darkness to Drug that the Other Eternals lack. In the comics, he has often placed his success above the success of the Eternals and his mission to protect humans, which has made him dangerous. (Even in comics, he’s been
dressed like a vampire types of.)
Powers: mind control. Drugs can see into human minds and exploit their weaknesses. Oh, is that so!
Who knew? Drug sets himself apart from the other Eternals because of himself, er.

Bonus Hero: Dane Whitman

Okay, so, Whitman isn’t a member of Eternal, but she’s Cersei’s regular human boyfriend in the movie. He could play a bigger, more heroic role in upcoming Marvel projects, though nothing has been confirmed. We won’t go into the finer details of his comic book history, but for readers who don’t mind spoilers,
