Chicago White Sox Minor league player Anderson Comas announced on social media that he is gay.
Disclaimer: If you are homophobic this post may not be for you or maby [sic] yeah so you can see we all matter [sic] And we are all the same…’ Comas began his post on Instagram.
“This might be the most personal thing I’ve ever said and it is that I am proudly and happily part of LGTBQ+ [sic] community. I am also a person with a great soul, I am respected, I am a lover, I love my family and friends and that is what really matters, I enjoy my job very much, being a professional baseball player is the best good thing this happened to me so i want to say something to those people who say gay people can be nobody in this life well look at me i’m gay and i’m a professional athlete so don’t stop Are [sic] I’m doing this to make my dreams come true, I’m doing this because I want to be an inspiration to people who chase their dreams Please don’t listen to the stupid things people say about us Fight for your dreams, believe in yourself and go for it.”

Billy Beane, not to be confused with oakland athletics GMs Billy Beane and Glenn Burke were the only major or minor league baseball players to come out publicly as gay. Both did it after retiring from the game.
This makes Comas the only active player in baseball to be publicly gay.

Coma has now come out publicly, but Chicago found out about his sexual orientation last year.
“Anderson first shared his news with us last year,” White Sox assistant GM Chris Gaetz said via The Athletic. “And I was very pleased that he was comfortable sharing in the player development with us. I was also pleased with the response across the organization, which is all you could expect from a teammate, support, help and congratulations. Today With her social media posts, we are all so proud of Anderson and comfortable sharing such an important personal part of her life openly.”
Comas, a 23-year-old outfielder from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, has made it as high as Single-A ball since signing in 2017.
In 21 games last year between the rookie Arizona Complex League and the Single-A Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, Comas had a slash line of .169/.192/.394 with four homers, four doubles and nine RBI.

Comas fared better in the Arizona Complex League, as he went 10-for-29 in eight games with his homers, doubles and RBIs. Once he reached Single-A, he went only 2-for-42 in 13 games for Kannapolis.
