Victim dies after a fire broke out in a serious attack in east London, Ont. – London | Globalnews.ca

A 29-year-old man, who set fire to the city’s eastern edge early Tuesday, died in hospital.

“The victim in this case died in hospital last night,” London, Ont. Police said on Wednesday morning.

The name of the victim has not been released pending the kin notification.

Police said officers received a 911 call at around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday about a man who was setting fires near Admiral Drive and Trafalgar Street.

In an update posted later that afternoon, investigators revealed that the victim and suspect knew each other.

According to police, the two had a “physical altercation” on Monday evening at a house on Noel Avenue, 10 minutes from where the victim was found burnt.

Police said that both had left from different houses.

After receiving a preliminary report that the victim was set on fire, details of a suspect and suspect vehicle were provided to the police.

Around 3 a.m., a man was arrested for a separate driving-related incident within an 1800-block radius of the Royal Crescent.

Authorities determined that the driver was also linked to the attack from earlier that morning.

Bradley Joudrey, 32, of London has been charged with one count of attempted murder and two offenses related to driving.

Asked whether the charges would now be updated once the victim has died, Const. London Police media officer Sandasha Bough said no update could be given as the investigation was ongoing.

Joudrey made a brief court appearance on Tuesday afternoon. He was ordered not to communicate with more than a dozen people and his next appearance is scheduled for Friday.

Baugh said investigators were helped by “many witnesses” who came forward.
