Tiger Woods withdraws from Hero World Challenge

Tiger Woods On Monday, Hero pulled out of the World Challenge due to plantar fasciitis.

Woods was to appear at the Bahamas event, which he co-founded. He said he planned to compete in The Match and The PNC Championship next month.

“In my preparation and practice for this week’s Hero World Challenge, I have developed plantar fasciitis in my right foot, which is making it difficult to walk,” Woods said in a statement. “After consulting with my doctors and trainers, I have decided to withdraw this week and focus on my hosting duties. I still plan to compete in The Match and the PNC Championship.”

Woods, who last played British Open in Julyannounced earlier this month that they had added themselves to the fray.

The Hero World Challenge, founded by Woods and his father, will take place from December 1 to 4 in Albany, Bahamas.

The tournament will feature a field that includes Scotty Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and returning champion Victor Hovland.

Woods is expected to attend matches with Rory McIlroy and the PNC Championship with his son Charlie. Woods has been battling injuries and his February 2021 crash.
