Tenille Towns I am once again the front runner Canadian Country Music Association AwardsAnd it gives him another reason to come home to Alberta and see his family.

“It’s great whenever I get a chance to hug grandparents,” said Grand Prairie’s Nashville-based singer-songwriter, who garnered seven nominations on Wednesday.

“It’s always nice to be touched anywhere in Canada.”

Towns is ahead of fellow major nominees for the awards show, which goes down in Calgary later this summer. Jade Eagleson, an Alberta-based singer raised in Bellyboro, Ont., holds six nods while the James Barker Band has five.

The categories in which Towns will compete include the single and music video for her song “Girl Who Didn’t Care” as well as album of the year. hiddenA project she wrote during the period of pandemic isolation.

“It definitely feels like the pages of my magazine,” she said.

“I couldn’t help the way the songs were more reflective and coming across more personally this time, which was awesome to share.”

Towns also earned nominations for Female Artist, Songwriter, Entertainer of the Year and for her country special “Christmas Time with Tennacle Towns”.

The 28-year-old country singer is a CCMA Awards favorite and most recently led the nominees at the 2020 ceremony. He has nine CCMA trophies.
