Steel makers avoid Russian components but bargain hunters swoon

Several European steel makers have said they will Avoid Russia’s Raw Materials But the volume of imports of some Russian steelmaking materials into Europe has been increasing anyway since the country invaded Ukraine in late February.

Russian exporters last month increased shipments of Russia-sourced ferrotitanium, a metal alloy used to strengthen steel, by 30% in March, according to import and export documents. The alloy is the key to making the finished steel that goes into cars, stainless steel and shipbuilding.
