Karachi: Secretary Local Government Sindh Syed Najam Ahmed Shah on Tuesday warned of strict action against water theft.

Najam Ahmed Shah, while addressing a meeting in his office, said that strict action will be taken against those who steal the water allotted to the people of Karachi and Hyderabad.

He vowed that no mercy would be shown to elements obstructing water supply to overcome water scarcity in Karachi and Hyderabad.

Shah said the Sindh government was working “day and night” to ensure a continuous supply of water to industrial and residential areas and that Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah and local government minister Nasir Shah would also pay special attention to the provision of clean water. are. People’s.

Secretary LG Sindh directed the officers that no leniency will be shown towards water thieves and public interest should always be kept on top priority.

Shah directed to make the system of water distribution transparent and regular delivery of bills to domestic and commercial consumers and said that timely recovery of KW and SB bills is necessary to make the institution active and stable.

He also said that a legal notice should be issued to the consumers protesting to pay the KW&SB dues.

The Secretary said that all illegal water hydrants should be kept uprooted permanently and arrangements should be made for 24/7 monitoring of bulk water supply lines.

Shah appealed to the people to register their complaints and suggestions regarding water supply on the complaint numbers of Jal Board and Sindh Local Government Department.
