Rona Wilson’s father, jailed activist in Elgar Parishad case, dies

The father of jailed activist Rona Wilson, who was arrested in 2018 for his alleged involvement in the Elgar Parishad case, died at his residence in Alappuzha on Wednesday. He was 84 years old.

Wilson had last met him in April 2018, when he had gone to Kerala. His lawyers will approach the court for temporary bail for Wilson so that he can go to his home for the last rites.

Wilson was arrested by the Pune Police on 6 June 2018. A petition filed by him, citing a report by Arsenal Consulting, a US-based digital consultant, said that ‘incriminating evidence’ was allegedly installed on his electronic device two years before his arrest , is pending before the Bombay High Court.

Recently, the Bombay High Court granted temporary bail to Wilson’s co-accused, lawyer Surendra Gadling, to visit her home in Nagpur to perform rituals on her mother’s first death anniversary.

Last year, the special court rejected Gadling’s plea for interim bail for the funeral of his mother, who died on August 15. Gadling’s plea was opposed by the National Investigation Agency, which investigates with the Pune Police. seriousness of the offence.
