tmz It is reported that the actor was diagnosed with a lung infection after checking himself in a hospital near his vacation home in Nuevo Vallarta.
Gere is said to have suffered from a cough prior to the voyage, whereupon his health deteriorated so severely that he felt the need to seek medical attention.
The Officer And A Gentleman star spent a night in the hospital, where he received treatment for his illness.
According to the outlet’s sources, Gere has since been released from the hospital and is said to be in improved health.

He is said to have been given antibiotics to continue his treatment while he recovered from the infection outside the hospital.
Silva, a Spanish publicist and longtime family friend of Gere, married her in 2018 at their sprawling ranch in upstate New York.
The pair have since welcomed two sons together – Alexander, four and two whose names have not been made public.
The two children accompany Gere and Silva on their latest trip to Mexico, where Silva reveals that the entire family had fallen ill.
She wrote on Instagram on Thursday: ‘Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes.. I am finally feeling much better after almost 3 weeks of being sick in our family! Thank you for all the love ❤️ I give it all back to you!’
