The Republican governor of New Hampshire condemned former President Donald Trump’s promise to pardon those jailed for attacking the US Capitol, breaking with the leader of his own party in a Sunday morning television interview.

‘Look, the people who were part of the riots and, frankly, the attack on the US Capitol are to be held responsible,’ Governor Chris Sununu said CNNUnion is a state.
Host Dana Bash asked, ‘And shouldn’t he be forgiven?’
‘off course not. Oh my god, no,’ replied Sununu.
He also rejected the idea of campaigning with Trump for his re-election bid, declaring: ‘I don’t need anyone to campaign with me.’
‘Approval is fine and all that sort of thing, but at the end of the day I’m a big believer. Whether you’re running for planning board, governor or president, you have to look people in the eye and earn the vote yourself,’ Sununu said.
Democrats also captured the incendiary comments Saturday night outside Texas.
In response to Trump’s comments, California Representative Eric Swalwell reprimanded the rioters as ‘police killers’.

‘Will you choose voting or violence to resolve our differences?’
Swellwell’s fellow progressive, Rep. Richie Torres of New York, said Trump blamed last year’s incident.
“Donald Trump has announced that he can pardon his co-conspirators,” Torres said.
Left-wing economist David Rothschild, a member of the wealthy Rothschild family, claimed on Twitter that the former president opened the door for his supporters to commit more violent acts.
Rothschild wrote, ‘Scary: Trump promises pardon to all who tried to undo 2020 losses for committing crimes.
‘Worse: Things people know Trump will pardon anyone who has committed a crime to help him win (or steal) the 2024 election.’
A former ethics attorney at George W. Bush’s White House said the surprise statement disqualified Trump from running for public office again.
“This alone is aiding or comforting a rebellion within the meaning of the 14th Amendment, Section 3. Trump is disqualified from public office,” Richard Painter said late Saturday.
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution prohibits any person from holding federally elected office ‘who indulges in rebellion or rebellion against him, or has aided or comforted his enemies.’

During his Save America rally in Conroe, the former president claimed his supporters were being treated “inappropriately” by the president who stormed the Capitol last year. Joe Biden,
‘If I run, and if I win, we’ll treat those guys fairly from January 6. We will treat them fairly,’ he said with enthusiastic applause.
‘If it requires an apology, we will forgive them, because they are being treated so badly.’
He also hit out at the Democrat-led House committee investigating the riots, before turning back his anger at how the detainees were being treated.
“It hasn’t happened with all the other atrocities that have happened recently, what that non-selective committee is doing and what are the people who are running those prisons – it’s a disgrace,” Trump said.
It comes as the panel continues to encroach on the former president’s inner circle – earlier this month its chairman, Rep. Benny Thompson, formally asked his eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, to cooperate with a congressional investigation.

The panel’s lawmakers have been candid about exploring Trump’s ties to the riots and the role he played in undermining the 2020 election.
Turning to the jailed rioters, he said: ‘We will treat them fairly and we will take care of the people of this country.’
Over the past 12 months, the DOJ has indicted hundreds of people in connection with the rebellion.
Trump’s aides in Congress, such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green of Georgia and Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, have claimed direct observation of his alleged bad behavior and called him a “political prisoner.”
Trump supporters began arriving at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds on Saturday morning as the sun shone through cloudless skies.
One rally-goer, Tony Kraut of Dallas, said he wanted to see the former president begin his re-election bid in 2024.
‘He’s such a dynamic guy and he’s working for free, he’s not working for a paycheck, and he’s the only president who has run for president who isn’t doing it for political gain. He’s doing it to defend our freedom, defend our country, defend our borders – it’s like you and I protect our home,’ Kraut told DailyMail.com.
He pledged to pardon his supporters, who were convicted in connection with the Capitol riot, while a possible 2024 bid was re-teased.
Several Trump supporters told DailyMail.com they wanted the former president to run again
A Trump supporter named Melissa Jamerson, who said Saturday’s rally was her first, insisted she wants the former president back as soon as possible.
“I want him back, like, right now,” she said, adding that she could count on her vote in the next presidential election.
But not every fan in attendance felt the same way — one voter who identified only as Rod of Montgomery County said he was “not real” that he wants to see Trump run for president again.
‘He will be 80 years old. I think he’s probably a little too old. I think he has plenty of time to get someone – a good successor with good ideas,’ Rod said.
He said Florida Governor Ron DeSantis could take office.
Conroe’s Cody and Cheyenne said they “absolutely” wanted Trump to run in 2024, but wanted Republicans to focus on the economy, range and job growth in the November midterm elections.
The former president issued a statement Saturday morning describing how many of his supporters had already gathered at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds ahead of his evening rally.
‘There’s already a huge crowd gathering in Texas for tonight, see you there!’ Trump said.

Trump collected some serious money ahead of his Conroe rally, in which he hosted a second fundraiser and $100,000 per couple lunch on Saturday before taking the stage. The money is for a new political action committee, Make America Great Again.
The former president charged couples $100,000 to join him and Texas Lieutenant Gov. Dan Patrick for lunch in Houston at an undisclosed location.
This was to be followed by a $5,000 couples reception in Lake Conroe, the Houston Chronicle reported, where hosts include Major League Baseball legend Roger Clemens and state Attorney General Ken Paxton. Donors can pay up to $50,000 to participate in the Round Table Discussion.
And he joined an event organized by his son Don Jr. called the American Freedom Tour.
The visit marks Trump’s first visit in two years to Texas, the reddest county in the state where Democrats are infiltrating.
His campaign-style rally in Texas on Saturday comes ahead of the state’s March 1 elections that formally begin the midterm primary season.
