Pro-Palestinian student camp planned for U of M-Winnipeg globalnews.ca

Several tent cities have emerged in the past few weeks at the University of Toronto, McGill University in Montreal, the University of Ottawa and the University of British Columbia.

In a statement to Global News, the University of Manitoba says it is aware of protests planned for next week at its Fort Garry campus.

A university spokesperson says the institute “supports the rights of our entire campus community to engage in academic freedom, freedom of expression, and the right to assemble and protest in accordance with University policies and law.”

He hopes the demonstration will “remain a safe and respectful environment” for students and teachers.

The student camp is scheduled to run from 9am to 11pm daily between May 7 and May 9.
