MVA government will last for full term despite Centre’s efforts to destabilize it: Sharad Pawar

The state’s ruling Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will complete its full term despite the Center’s efforts to destabilize it, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar said this on Sunday.

Addressing party workers in Rahatni on the second day of his Pimpri-Chinchwad visit, Pawar said the central government would not succeed in its plans. “The MVA government will complete its full term no matter what the central government does to destabilize it and harass its leaders… I assure you, this behavior of the central government will not last long,” he said.

Stating that the MVA government under Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is doing a good job, Pawar lamented that the central government was “not cooperating” with the state government. “Maharashtra owes Rs 30,000 crore GST to the central government, but it (the latter) is refusing to part with it,” Pawar said.

Stating that the Center is continuously targeting MVA leaders, Pawar said, “Leaders like Anil Deshmukh, Anil Parab, Bhavna Gawli, Ashok Chavan have faced ED (Enforcement Directorate) probe. But none of that has come to light. Now, they are targeting Ajit Pawar.”

On rising fuel prices, Pawar said, “The central government is easily blaming the rising fuel prices in the country for the rise in international crude oil prices. But even when prices fall internationally, fuel prices in the country continue to rise.”

Recalling his days as Union Agriculture Minister, Pawar said, “At one time, we had a stock of food grains which lasted only for four weeks. The government had decided to import food grains. However, I was against this move…only after the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Insisting, I signed the file… Later, I decided to change the whole scenario in comparison to foodgrain stocks and it changed for good.

Urging party workers and leaders to unite to win the upcoming elections, Pawar said, “NCP changed the face of Pimpri-Chinchwad. However, in Pimpri-Chinchwad (now) the NCP is not ruling, but a party, which is looting the industrial city, is in power. This should change in the coming elections…” Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
