The SIT of Punjab Police on Wednesday remanded notorious gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria alias Jagdeep Singh for further investigation in the murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala after securing an arrest warrant from a competent court in Mansa. Jaggu, a resident of Bhagwanpura in Batala, reportedly has close links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In the murder of Moosewala, two shooters from Punjab were allegedly provided by him. During the investigation, his role in providing logistics and other assistance to the attackers involved in the firing of the Punjabi singer was also revealed.

He is presently lodged in Delhi Jail.

Jaggu’s main area of operation is Amritsar and the border region but recently he has been involved in cases in Punjab and its neighboring states.

There are around 68 criminal cases registered against the gangster which include murder, betel nut taking, dacoity, extortion besides smuggling of drugs and arms across the border.

Jaggu’s gang reportedly has a rivalry with the Davinder Bambiha gang. However, the gangster is believed to be close to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang as both the gangs exchange their shooters with each other several times while committing the sensational crime.

In September 2014, Jaggu killed another gangster Sanjeev Kumar alias Bubba, who was out of jail on parole, in Amritsar. He (Bubba) was serving a life sentence for the murder of another gangster Raju Chikna in the Amritsar Court premises in January 2010.

Jaggu was arrested by the Amritsar Rural Police in July 2015. He allegedly operates his gang from inside the jail through mobile phones, social media etc.

In 2021, Jaggu was the main conspirator in the assassination of his arch rival Rana Kandowalia in the border region. He is now being brought to the competent court of Mansa on transit remand from Delhi.
