According to the report of Geo News, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken cognizance of the heated debate between former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and PTV Sports anchor Nauman Niaz.

Pakistan’s Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Khan revealed that the Premier has also taken note of the issue and directed the committee to take immediate action.

He said that Imran Khan is also upset that the host of the show has insulted the national star, the report said.

“You can’t ask anyone to air the show, it’s arrogance,” he said. He said that Niaz should have respected himself and Akhtar.

“Dr Niaz should have thought a hundred times before insulting Akhtar,” he questioned, “do we treat our national stars like this in front of the greats of international cricket”.

His view was that people from all over the world were watching the show, “It was a big day for Pakistan, our team beat New Zealand, everyone was celebrating and the event happened”.

The report said that Khan reiterated that no one should treat our national stars like this.

Acknowledging Akhtar’s efforts to resolve the issue over the air, he said: “I would also appreciate Akhtar because contrary to his nature he acted calmly, although he is known for his aggression as he is a sharp bowlers.”

Highlighting Niyaz’s statement that he would not allow anyone else to host the show, the minister said that neither the state-owned channel belongs to anyone’s father nor does the show.
