Two women drowned in Beas due to river rafting

Two women tourists, one from Mumbai and the other from Indore, were killed, while four others were injured when a raft capsized in the Beas river in Kullu district on Friday morning.

The deceased women have been identified as Rukaiya Dahod (75) and Sakara Bombay Wala (53).

According to Kullu police, a group of 11 women had come to Manali on Wednesday and were staying at Hotel Rayudu here. On Friday, he came to Baveli from Manali and hired two rafts for river rafting.

There were six women on one raft and five women on the second raft who were swimming behind the first raft.

When these rafts reached near Chharudu, a raft overturned and six women sitting in it fell into the Beas river.

After this accident, the guide of both the rafts jumped into the water and saved four women but could not save two of them.
