TOKYO—Honda Motor and LG Energy Solution plan to build a multibillion-dollar electric-vehicle battery factory in Ohio, people familiar with the matter said, the latest tie-up between auto makers and battery suppliers seeking to expand capacity by sharing upfront costs.
The companies plan to begin construction of the factory next year and start mass production in 2025, one of the people said.
