Harish Choudhary replaces Harish Chaudhary as in-charge of Congress Punjab affairs

Rajasthan Revenue Minister and AICC Secretary Harish Choudhary was on Friday appointed in-charge of Punjab Congress affairs. Chowdhary has replaced AICC general secretary and former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat.

Rawat’s tenure in Punjab was eventful and there was a revolt against former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and his removal as CM. Navjot Sidhu, who left the cabinet following differences with Amarinder, was appointed PPCC chief due to strong opposition from Amarinder.

Rawat, however, had been demanding from the high command that he should be relieved as he has to focus on his election in Uttarakhand. The relief orders came quite late, though he had been requesting for it for a long time.

Choudhary had earlier served as deputy to Asha Kumari and Shakeel Ahmed, former AICC general secretary in-charge in Punjab.

He was instrumental in removing Amarinder and was put in charge.
