Ford’s route to EVs runs through China

There is no escape from China, or job losses, on the road to electric vehicles.

Payab outlined detailed plans to accelerate EV production Thursday. It said it has secured all the batteries needed to build the Mustang Mach-S, F-150 Lightnings, Transit EV and a new sport-utility vehicle at an annual run-rate of 600,000 units by the end of 2023. Of the two million EVs by the end of 2026 for a target run-rate, it has sourced 70% of the batteries.
