MLB prospect reacts to being surprisingly traded in middle of game

Luis Erez was transferred to the Oakland Athletics just minutes before leading miami marlins,

but one of the possibilities he was traded for I came to know this news while he was actually playing.

The business seemed to start out of nowhere. There were no murmurs of any moves, and given that Arraez and Martorella were both in their respective lineups, they clearly had no idea much was coming. It’s not like we’re any closer to the July 31 trade deadline.

But one could tell Martorella was extremely surprised.

In the top of the third inning, not exactly when the pinch-runner would be used, Martorella was taken out of the game while standing at second base, but he looked around and even Pointed to himself to make sure that this was what was supposed to happen to come out of the ground.

Martorella walked off the field still confused, but seemed to get the hang of it once he entered the dugout.

Arraez finished eighth in NL MVP voting last year and 13th in AL voting in 2022, earning. Silver Slugger Award at second base each season.

So far this season, he is hitting “only” .299.
