Fighting rages in eastern Ukraine as Zelensky warns of more Russian missile strikes

KYIV, Ukraine—Fierce fighting broke out in eastern Ukraineas Moscow denied Kyiv’s claims that Russia was preparing to give up a nuclear power plant in the country’s south that it has occupied since March.

Russia is struggling to capture the town of Bakhmut and score a symbolic victory after months of being on the backfoot in the eastern Donetsk region. Recent successful Ukrainian offensives have recaptured most of the northeastern Kharkiv region and key Southern regional capital of Kherson Kyiv under control.
