An Elkhorn Public School teacher has been placed on administrative leave after a Facebook post that compared Masked and Klanmann.
The district confirmed on Tuesday that the post showed a Ku Klux Klan costume and the hood of a medical face mask and raised the question: “Isn’t it strange that they can breathe in (KKK masks), but it No (medical mask)?”
The name of the teacher has not been released.
District spokesperson Kara Parchal said that the district has been informed about the post on Tuesday morning. He said in a statement that the teacher has been sent on leave during the investigation of the matter.
“Specifically, the views expressed were expressed on the individual’s personal social media account and do not represent those of Elkhorn Public Schools,” Perchal said in the statement.
Masks are optional for students and staff in the Elkhorn District.
