DPS Negi appointed to Prasar Bharati

DPS Negi, Principal Advisor to the Union Ministry of Labor and Employment, took over as Member (Finance), Prasar Bharati in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

An Indian Economic Service officer of 1985 batch, Negi’s new appointment comes after his retirement on November 30.

At the time of his retirement, he was also holding the full time charge of Chief Labor Commissioner (Central) in the Ministry of Labor and Employment, apart from being its Principal Advisor.

He earned all-round praise for ensuring industrial harmony, peace and welfare of workers, both organized and unorganized, apart from being instrumental in bringing about many reforms.

His major contribution to the ministry was the commissioning of five pan-India surveys, besides he was credited with synchronizing about 40 laws to amalgamate them into four labor codes.

Prior to this, he was Director General of Labor Bureau for more than a year, where he is credited with transforming the working of Labor Bureau. He spearheaded several forward-looking reforms in the labor sector and the collection of information through the use of modern technologies and IT enabled tools so that the government can formulate data-driven policies in the country.

During his 36-year long career, in various Ministries and Departments, he has been honored with various accolades and achievements.
