Dangerous heat catches on in the Southeast

An alarming heat wave continues over the Southeast and Southern Plains during the weekend, when daytime highs will continue into the 90s and low 100s.

A heat advisory has been issued for central Texas to western Florida for Friday as the heat index is expected to reach 115 degrees.

Dozens of records for daily high temperatures will be broken, as the high will be 10-20 degrees above the seasonal average.

However, further north, the summer is finally breaking in the central west and northern plains.

After an extremely hot stretch, the day’s high temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will drop into the upper 70s and low 80s over most areas.

Over the Southwest, Monsoon conditions continue over the weekend.

Daily rain and thunder Four Corners will continue in some parts of the states till next week.
