There is a slight decrease in new cases of corona every day in the country. 16,248 new cases were registered on Sunday. 1528 cases were found less than the previous day. Active cases i.e. the number of patients undergoing treatment has increased to 1 lakh 29 thousand 141. The death toll from Corona has come down from 41 to 25 in 24 hours.

Elderly concerns increased in Corona
Around 70% of senior citizens did not get proper health facilities during the corona pandemic. 57% suffered mental health problems during this period. 53% of people said that their concerns about the disease included the corona epidemic. This has been revealed in a survey by Antara, a company of Max Group. In a survey conducted on urban areas, the company got the opinion of 2100 people aged 60 years and above. The survey was conducted between March and May.

Around 72% of those surveyed said that they opted for self-care and a balanced diet to survive the pandemic. 55% relied on home remedies instead of doctor’s advice.

In the survey conducted on the preparedness of the government for Kovid-19, 59 percent said that the government has been successful in managing certain aspects well. In the 2020 survey, the number of people who agreed to this was just 23%. Around 33% said that the precautionary measures given by the government to the common people are not enough. The number of people expressing this opinion stood at 77% in the 2020 survey. Only 8% said that the government has failed to manage most of the challenges. Commenting on the findings of the survey, Rajit Mehta, MD, Antara said, “This survey will help in assessing the needs and demands of our elders. It will help to understand the development in their likes, concerns and aspirations.

Those surveyed preferred a separate assisted living facility. 64% said that they would like to avail such facility. 44% said it would give them a chance to hang out with like-minded people.

Other Survey Results

  • 65% said that they fear getting infected after recovering from corona.
  • 58% said that they are afraid of being alone in the society due to the strict guidelines.
  • 50% said avoiding serious illness and maintaining health were the biggest concerns after the second wave.

West Bengal on top, not Kerala
Talking about the states, the maximum number of new cases of corona were reported from West Bengal. In Sunday’s figures, the highest number of 2962 cases in the country are coming from West Bengal. However, the new cases in West Bengal neither increased nor declined.

The highest number of new cases have been reported in five states in the country.
There are 5 states in the country from where the maximum number of cases are coming. These include West Bengal, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. There was a 9 percent drop in newly infected people in Kerala. At the same time, a decrease of 5 percent was seen in the new infected in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
