U.S. consumers’ spending rose 1.1% in June, the Commerce Department said Friday, much faster than the prior month as they faced higher inflation and interest rates.
The report included a fresh reading on inflation as measured by the Federal Reserve’s preferred gauge, the personal-consumption expenditures price index.
