RIYADH: The coalition seeking to restore legitimacy in Yemen said on Thursday it was carrying out airstrikes to destroy Houthi capabilities in Hodeidah.
The coalition said the port of Hodeidah was being used to smuggle Iranian weapons to militias and was a threat to freedom of maritime navigation.
It said the Houthis are taking advantage of the Stockholm Agreement as an umbrella for security.
It said pirates and organized criminals are also operating from the ports of Hodeidah and that the coalition has targeted a criminal stronghold in Hodeidah.
Biden’s stance on reinstating the Houthis to the terrorist list welcomed calls from the Biden administration to the UAE embassy to support the re-designation of the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization.
