A fresh spat broke out between Maharashtra’s ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday when a BJP worker posted an objectionable tweet to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s wife “Marathi Rabri Devi”.
The tweet was posted by Jiten Gajaria, who is said to be part of the BJP’s social media cell and has been called for questioning by the Mumbai Police.
Earlier on Thursday, he was summoned by the Crime Branch CID-Cyber Cell for his objectionable tweet, which created a ruckus in the political and social media circles.
On January 4, Gajaria posted a tweet with a picture of Rashmi U Thackeray, titled: “Marathi Rabri Devi”, referring to Rashtriya Janata Dal president and wife of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad.
Rabri Devi made global headlines when Lalu Prasad named her as the Chief Minister of Bihar, who was forced to step down after her involvement in the fodder scam.
Despite facing ridicule for being a political novice, he ruled the state for eight years.
BJP Mumbai spokesperson Vivekanand Gupta said Gajaria was called by the police to record her statement at Bandra Kurla Complex, but no FIR was registered till evening.
In recent weeks, several BJP leaders have taken a dig at the demand that Thackeray – currently unwell for the past two months for a spinal problem – beg his wife if he does not believe in any of his Shivas. ask for Rashmi or son and Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray should be made CM. Leader of the Nationalist Congress Party and Congress, an ally or ally of the Shiv Sena.
