Preface

Hello everyone and welcome to the over-by-over coverage of the second day of the 4th Ashes Test. we are moving to sydney Cricket 10 a.m. local time (11 p.m. UK).

That’s right, we’re running a half hour earlier than usual today – although it may feel like an hour ago, considering how late this series has started for some reason or the other.

There wasn’t a whole heap to wax lyrical about yesterday as the many showers floating around Sydney stopped the rhythm of the play. The pitch looks good for batting, but there is enough support for bowlers if they put the ball in the right areas often enough. David Warner looked in good rhythm before his foe Stuart Broad, which he usually used to do. James Anderson got some swing but he lacked accuracy. Mark Wood was fast. Marcus Harris cemented his position at the top of the order after his runs at the MCG.

This way but martin Saw things from the SCG press box.

The forecast is still rain today, but the risk of any interruption to play is very low. Tests should go a long way in extended sessions.
