Apollo Hospitals Group on Monday announced a tie-up with US-based The Clinic by Cleveland Clinic to provide international second opinion services to their patients. Through this program, Apollo doctors will collaborate with Cleveland Clinic’s leading medical experts to review complex cases and design the most appropriate treatment plan. Anyone wishing to obtain an international second opinion, may consult with Apollo Advisors, and express interest in the service.

The patient’s medical records will be shared with Cleveland Clinic under appropriate consent and a conference call will be scheduled between international medical experts and Apollo consultants in the patient’s presence. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group, said, “At Apollo, we strive to remove all barriers that allow patients to receive nothing but the best care.

Empowering our doctors with the support of global peers to confirm diagnoses and discover innovative management plans is a step in that direction.

“Based on the patient’s health history and case discussion with Apollo Consultants, international doctors will share insights in the form of a written opinion with Apollo Consultants, who will further discuss and decide on the best treatment for the patient.

According to Anupam Sibal, Group Medical Director, Apollo Hospitals, “The objective of this association is to bring together world-class medical and surgical opinion, so that Apollo patients can get the best treatment immediately.” Frank McGillin, CEO of Clinic by Cleveland Clinic, said: “We are excited to collaborate with Apollo Hospitals on this initiative, which strongly supports the clinic’s vision of increasing access to the world’s best clinical expertise.

This new collaboration will help Indian patients work closely with their physicians at Apollo Hospitals to leverage the expertise of Cleveland Clinic physicians to improve patient outcomes and coordination of care.
