Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will participate in the “Sahakar Thi Samridhi” (Cooperation for Prosperity) program organized by Surat District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited (Sumul Dairy) in Tapi on Sunday.
This program has been organized under the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi at Sumul Dairy Animal Feed Center located in Bajipura, Tapi.
Around 1 lakh people are expected to attend the programme.
Mansingh Patel, President, SUMUL Dairy said, “After the formation of the new cooperative ministry, SUMUL has organized a first of its kind program in Gujarat. Union Minister Shah, through his speech, inspired to strengthen cooperative activities, so that citizens can progress economically. The Union Minister will also request the farmers to adopt organic farming of vegetables. These vegetables should be packed and sold at doorsteps. We are expecting more than 1 lakh people to attend the event.”
According to sources in Sumul Dairy, around 2 lakh members from Surat and Tapi districts supply milk to Sumul Dairy through 1200 mandals.
Sources said that Union Minister Shah along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel BJP President CR Patil and state cabinet ministers will also attend the meeting.
Surat district BJP president Sandeep Desai said, “We have invited around 6000 cooperative bodies in Surat and South Gujarat to be present in the programme. We are ready with all necessary arrangements to make this event a historic one.”
The event was planned twice earlier, but was later canceled due to various reasons.
The event was earlier planned to be held on January 16 and later on February 19. However, it was postponed due to the busy schedule of the Union Minister.
Shah was likely to attend a meeting of BJP party leaders at Vanitha Vishram Maidan in Surat on November 24 last year. Due to his hectic schedule, the Union Minister remained virtually present and addressed the gathering. In his speech, he had said that state BJP president CR Patil and party leaders of Surat should organize another meeting in Surat next month (December), and he would definitely come.
