In a shocking case, a wrestler was shot multiple times, leading to his death, as he was preparing to get into his vehicle, police said here on Friday.
The incident took place on Thursday night at around 10.40 pm in Chakan on the outskirts of the city when the victim Nagesh Karale was getting in his SUV to go somewhere.
Suddenly, his vehicle was surrounded by a gang of at least four men and they started firing at him, causing him to disappear from the scene.
The entire incident was caught on local CCTV cameras, in which the attackers are clearly seen shooting the 37-year-old good wrestler.
Several people are said to have witnessed the chilling crime with Karela covered in blood in a car near the road, and someone later called the police, who arrived.
The wrestler was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Pune Police has formed four special squads to nab the killers of Karale who have fled the city or are hiding in the district.
As per the preliminary investigation, Karale’s murder may have happened due to some old business rivalry, but the police have collected some leads and are probing from all angles.
