A woman called off her wedding with her college sweetheart to find love with a man 24 years her senior – the same age as her mother – and now they’re expecting a baby.
Amanda Cannon, 30, from Mooresville, North CarolinaHad a strong ‘gut’ feeling that she couldn’t be with her ex and canceled their wedding – just days before it was set to go ahead.
Amanda embarked on a journey of solo self-discovery and ended up falling ‘love at first sight’ with Ace, 54, a radio DJ, in the summer of 2017.
Despite Ace vowing never to marry again, the lovers tied the knot in January 2021 and the couple are expecting a baby – in June 2023.
The ace said: ‘I was 30 with my first child and I’ll be 55 when this one is born. I am very sensible and I think it will be in my favor.

Amanda met Ace unexpectedly when she was single in April 2017 after her wedding was annulled.
She said: ‘In my last relationship I wasn’t myself, I felt constantly lost and exhausted.
‘I canceled the wedding because in my gut I knew I had to.’
Amanda, a personal trainer, said: ‘Not every age gap relationship predator is I approached.
‘Love is love, you can love anyone older or younger than you. Maybe our souls met at a different time.
‘I knew who he was, and I walked up to the bar and introduced myself.
‘We traded numbers and we hit it off, we were instantly attracted to each other.’
Ace said, ‘I was divorced some time ago, I was living alone in this apartment.

The 30-year-old said some have accused her of being a ‘gold digger’ because of her husband’s age gap – but she doesn’t care
Meanwhile Ace said he ‘never in his wildest dreams’ believed that someone as beautiful as Amanda could be interested in him
‘I was sitting by myself to eat fish tacos, and she came over and introduced herself.
‘I was obviously immediately attracted to her beauty, but I knew there was a big age difference.
‘Never in my wildest dreams did I think that someone so handsome would be interested in me.’
The two decided to enjoy each other for a good summer of fun but could not bear the thought of ending things and their relationship became official.
‘When you date an older guy – around 50 – it was a weird thing for him to say he had a girlfriend so let’s just say we’re important to each other,’ Amanda said.
Amanda puts Ace’s confidence and humility down to his older age – claiming that younger boys are ‘immature’ and ‘prone to ghost women’.
Ace is about the same age as Amanda’s mother, who is 54 years old. The duo is often mistaken for father and daughter but it looks amusing.
Ace said, ‘Amanda was just seven years older than my daughter.
‘Our differences turned out to be fun more than anything else – she used to educate me about things I didn’t know.
‘One time we went to a baseball game, and someone wanted a photo with me.

Ace said he is excited about becoming a father for the third time and he is not worried that he has grown up this time
‘It was a listener of my radio show and he said, ‘Oh my god is that Peyton? – My daughter – She was very embarrassed when I told her it was my date.
‘His partner stepped forward and punched me.’
Strangers Online have also accused Amanda of being a ‘gold digger’ and claim their child ‘will have something wrong with her’ due to Ace’s age.
Amanda said: ‘It’s completely untrue but 90 per cent of the comments we get are positive.’
In February 2020, Ace proposed to Amanda at a restaurant outside the Brooklyn Bridge, New York City, US, after playing a song he wrote to her through his headphones.
Amanda said: ‘He put his headphones on saying ‘I want you to hear this’.
‘He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.’
The pair eloped in an intimate ceremony on a Jamaican beach with their close family.
Amanda said, ‘I didn’t feel at all that I was making the wrong decision.
Since Ace had his vasectomy reversed they are expecting a little boy in June 2023.
He is excited about becoming a father for the third time and he is not worried that he has grown up this time.
Ace said: ‘Amanda is an energetic, active and engaged person and that energy helps energize me.’
Amanda said: ‘People make comments like he won’t be around the baby for very long.
‘You have not promised your parents forever, he may live till the age of 90.
‘I’m not worried about him being a big dad – maybe he’ll take more naps now.’
Ace’s daughter Payton tragically passed away in a car accident in July 2020.
‘Amanda and him were so close, as much as I’m heartbroken, it doesn’t make me want to have kids again,’ he said.
‘Peyton used to say, ‘You can have another baby as long as it’s not a girl,’ and Cade said, ‘Have another baby, as long as it’s not a boy.’
Amanda said: ‘I learned a lot about Ace’s daughter dying, life is short, and it is not promised to anyone.
‘As long as you’re happy and no one is being harmed, it’s okay to live your life.
‘Always listen to your conscience, you don’t want to be 90 years old and look back on your life to see what would have happened.’
