With fewer cases and lower positivity rate, Covid-19 is on the decline in Delhi

the current COVID-19 With the absolute number of cases decreasing with the positivity rate, the chances of a boom in Delhi are looming; The low number of cases with high positivity rate suggests inadequate testing. Delhi has recorded an average of 581 new cases every day in the last seven days, with the positivity rate being 3.89% during this period. For comparison, according to the government’s daily health bulletins, 978 new cases were reported during the last seven days with an average positivity rate of 6.15%.

If the positivity rate remains 5% or less at two weeks, the spread of the infection is generally considered to be under control. It has been four days since the positivity rate – the proportion of samples tested that are positive, indicating the spread of the infection – remained below 5% in Delhi.

Experts say that these small fluctuations in the number of cases are likely to continue this year as infections in the population stabilize. High buoyancy is unlikely to occur, unless a very mutated version is circulating.

Another sign of slowing growth is the reduction in the number of active cases or current infections. According to the data, the number of active cases during the last seven days stood at 2,788 on an average and the number of people hospitalized with the infection stood at 156 on an average.

Delhi recorded 531 new cases on Friday with a positivity rate of 3.13%. 2,329 active cases were reported in which 134 people were hospitalised.

However, the death toll remains high. The first eight days of the month recorded 19 deaths with COVID-19 and the month of June recorded 50 deaths. The number of deaths usually peaks a week after the number of cases. The city has recorded 26,280 deaths with Covid-19 since March 2020 when the first case was reported.
