President Joe Biden is delivering a speech Wednesday at the Detroit Auto Show in Michigan to promote the launch of electric vehicle manufacturing in the motor city.

Biden is slated to tout how legislation he’s signed, including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS and Science Act, encourages companies to build electric vehicles in the United States.

The administration has made a major push for electric vehicles, bolstering key supply chains in the U.S. Currently, most of the raw materials and batteries for current EVs are from Asia, including China and South Korea.

EVs only represent a small portion of cars on the road, but automakers are spending billions of dollars to develop and release entire lineups of the zero-emissions vehicles amid stricter emissions regulations globally. The success of companies like Tesla has shown there is demand and newly passed tax credits aim to give Americans even more incentive to buy.
