A 31-year-old man, who was found walking on boulders placed around the enclosure of the African Lion Mot area at the Nehru Zoological Park here, was rescued on Tuesday, zoo and police officials said.
A video shot by some visitors shows the man also sitting on a boulder in a prohibited area as a lion watches him. It is seen in the video that some security personnel are taking him away.
He was later handed over to the police.
A police officer said that preliminary investigation revealed that the man seemed to be mentally unsound.
“The man, who was walking on stones along the African lion ditch area where the lions are released into the display enclosure at the Nehru Zoological Park, which is a completely prohibited area, was today rescued and caught by the zoo staff “, said an official release.
Police said that no case has been registered yet and they are probing the matter. – PTI
