The incident happened just before 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 17 at a motel on the 1800 block of Northwest Highway. Police said the child’s mother opened the door of her motel room thinking that a friend was knocking. Instead, three women — Lashonda Price, 28-year-old Romisha Brown and an unidentified white woman — allegedly walked in, police said. They immediately overpowered the mother and took away her son, the police said.

Officers obtained surveillance video that showed three women arriving at the motel in a black SUV. The video shows women exiting the SUV parking and exiting in the back parking lot of the motel. They are seen waiting at the back door till it opens from inside. Moments later, women are seen running towards the SUV carrying the boy through the same door. The mother chased them and managed to remove the front license plate from the kidnappers’ vehicle, before they were able to escape from the parking lot.

Responding officers identified the SUV as a black Jeep Renegade from a license plate obtained by the mother. Officers immediately began investigating the area, and a Garland officer spotted the SUV driving on Northwest Highway near the LBJ Freeway inside Dallas. Officers stopped traffic on the vehicle and saw that it was occupied by a female driver, an 11-year-old teenager and a kidnapped infant.

The infant was not harmed and returned to its mother safely.

Police said Price was driving. The 34-year-old from Seagoville was arrested for kidnapping and taken to the Dallas County Jail on October 19. His bond is worth $20,000.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Brown’s kidnapping.

Investigators said they believed the kidnapping was an isolated incident in which the suspects involved knew the victim.
