Ride-hailing app Uber on Tuesday introduced a new feature called ‘Explore’ that will allow customers to browse and book experiences including dinner reservations, live events and other fun activities. Entering this path has pitted the company against giants like Zomato, Paytm Insider and BookMyShow.
When you open the Explore tab in the Uber app, riders will see recommended places for them based on categories like food and drink, arts and culture, nightlife, music and shows, and more.
This feature is now available in 14 US cities and Mexico City.
“We plan to expand Explore to more cities in the coming weeks and months, as well as provide more opportunities and experiences,” the company said in a statement.
The company has selected some of the best places to explore, and for top restaurants and bars, you’ll get 15 percent off your ride for up to $10 for now. Deals will always change based on what’s popular in your area.

“It will be easier to buy tickets for events and experiences as you can easily pay from your Uber Wallet and payment profile,” it added.
Restaurant reservations are handled through Yelp integration in the app.

In Explore, Uber will show a five-star rating for that company’s restaurant. “We built Uber Explore to take our customers beyond the ride,” said Adib Rumani, Head of Product, Uber Explore.
