Trump announces launch of media company, social media site

Nine months after he was pulled from social media for his role in instigating the Capital Rebellion on January 6, former President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he is starting a new media company with his own social media platform.

Trump says his goal in launching the Trump Media & Technology Group and its “Truth Social” app is to create a rival to the big tech companies that have shut them down and deprived them of the megaphones that their national Upliftment was paramount.

“We live in a world where the Taliban have a huge Twitter presence, yet your favorite US president has been silenced,” he said in a statement. “this is unacceptable.”

In a release, the new venture announced that it was created through a merger with Digital World Acquisition Corp. and said it intended to become a publicly listed company.

Trump has talked about launching his own social media site since being banned from Twitter Facebook. An earlier attempt to launch a blog on their existing website was abandoned after the page had disappointing views.

In addition to the app, which is expected to soft-launch next month, with a nationwide rollout early next year, the company says it plans a video-on-demand service that includes entertainment programming, news, and more. Podcasts will be included.
