Two men from the Toronto area are facing charges of slashing multiple screens at several Southern Ontario movie theaters.

Halton police say the men have been linked to incidents at Film.ca on Spears Road in Oakville, Cine Starz in Burlington and Princess Cinemas in Waterloo, which took place between November 2021 and the end of February 2022.

Investigators say that in each incident, the men made their way into theaters and cut off screens in theaters while patrons watched.

Some of the incidents were recorded on video captured by security cameras.

In all, the theaters suffered approximately $100,000 in total damages.

A 38-year-old Pickering man faces five counts of mischief and one count of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

A 30-year-old Toronto man is facing prank charges.

Police say evidence of the allegations was secured through the execution of search warrants at homes in Scarborough and Pickering on Tuesday.

Both the accused have been released on an undertaking with the date of the court.
