By-elections on two seats on October 30
Bypolls to Sindgi and Hangal assembly constituencies in Karnataka will be held on October 30. These seats fell vacant after the death of the MLAs of Janata Dal Secular and BJP. A lot is at stake for the ruling BJP as this is the first vote after Basavaraj Bommai to replace BS Yediyurappa as the chief minister.

Hangal is right next to Shiggaon, the new chief minister’s constituency. The Congress hopes that victory in both the seats will strengthen the party ahead of the state elections due in 2023.
