Three Oklahomans Competing Among the Top Cornhole Players

Tulsa, Okla. – “We fell in love with the game, just started trying it out and started hitting tournaments.”

For Ty Drywater, Matthew Creekkiller and Jackam Foreman, cornhole has become a way of life.

He was introduced to the sport two years ago at a birthday party and now practices the sport he loves for four to five hours a day.

“It’s just something I’ve become accustomed to,” Creekkiller said.

Two boards placed 27 feet apart is an Oklahoma tailgating tradition, but these three friends have taken it to the next level. He has become a professional player in the American Cornhole League.

For Ty Drywater, Matthew Creekkiller and Jackam Foreman, cornhole has become a way of life.

“I think it’s the biggest achievement I’ve ever made in my life,” said Creekkiller.

They turned professional by collecting enough points in tournaments, or like the drywaters, by participating in world championships and finishing in the top spot.

“I like to compete,” said Drywater. “It’s fun to compete.”

There are singles competitions, doubles and crew cups which are four-on-four.

Each one requires a lot of strategy to win. These three pros are sharing some expert tips with other cornhole fans.

Foreman says he likes to place the bean bag right in front of the hole.

“So they have to either go straight into the hole or try and get around it,” he said.

Foreman says this forces opponents to move to the left or right of the hole, giving them a chance to put an extra bag in the hole.

“Yeah, there’s a lot of strategy for the game as well,” he said.

When it comes to the toss, these three say it’s all in the wrist.

For Ty Drywater, Matthew Creekkiller and Jackam Foreman, cornhole has become a way of life.

“It’s almost like throwing a Frisbee,” said Drywater. “You want your bag to be flat as you fly through the air so that it stays straight when it hits the board.”

The future of these three friends is looking bright. They say the game will continue to grow and attract the best players in the world.

“In five years this will be one of the big games,” Creekkiller said. “It will be right next to baseball and football.”
